The. ‘Statement of Purpose for Mathematics’ under discussion , as a result of Tremaine‘s cartoon , though , is something else ! God help our youngsters — and New Zealand. What a bunch of gobbledygook / absolute nonsense .. Where did this unmitigated rubbish come from ? What is so magic about Stone-age Maori mythology etc that it is now apparently so central to the purpose of mathematics as to be driving this ‘absolute crap ‘Statement of purpose for mathematics’. What has it even remotely got to do with mathematics— NOTHING !!
Our PM was previously our Minister of Education . These changes to our education syllabuses made under his ‘stewardship…
