Imagine a medical authority receiving explicit, documented warnings

that a mandated pharmaceutical product carries a heightened risk of

heart inflammation for young people—and choosing not to tell the

public while rolling out the second dose to hundreds of thousands of

teenagers.

That is no longer a hypothetical debate. It is the defining

administrative failure of New Zealand’s pandemic response. Thanks to

the stars at Reality Check Radio the truth is being prised out of

government agencies - the truth that two Royal Commissions missed.

While government ministers and public health officials assured parents

that the Pfizer mRNA vaccine was "safe and effective" for all

demographics, internal records, safety monitoring alerts, and findings

from the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) have laid bare a

stark reality: officials were fully aware of the elevated risk of

post-vaccination myocarditis—particularly after the second dose in

young males—yet failed to ensure parents, teenagers, and even

frontline vaccinators were properly informed.

The consequences were staggering in scope: over 310,000 New Zealand

teenagers aged 12 to 17 received their second dose, largely under the

pressure of government-enforced mandates, school access requirements,

and intense societal messaging.

The Paper Trail vs. The Public Narrative

The timeline of official knowledge versus public communication reveals

a deep breach of informed consent.

The Warning Signals: By mid-2021, international regulatory data from

Israel and the United States, alongside Medsafe’s own safety

monitoring communications, confirmed a clear statistical signal:

post-vaccination myocarditis was occurring at significantly higher

rates in adolescents and young men following dose two.

The Failure to Inform: Despite internal briefings, official guidance

given to everyday New Zealanders at vaccination centers systematically

downplayed or entirely omitted the specific symptoms of

myocarditis—chest pain, shortness of breath, and palpitations.

The HDC Findings: A damning report by the Health and Disability

Commissioner later confirmed that vaccinators were not provided with

clear, mandatory instructions to warn consumers about myocarditis

risks. Young people left vaccination clinics without knowing that

post-jab chest discomfort was a medical emergency.

Tragic Outcomes: For families across the country, this failure of

transparency proved fatal. Young New Zealanders—like 26-year-old Rory

Nairn—collapsed and died from vaccine-induced myocarditis without ever

knowing that their symptoms were a known side effect requiring urgent

hospital care.

The Inquiries That Looked Away

New Zealanders were promised answers. We got two iterations of a Royal

Commission of Inquiry, yet neither properly held anyone to account.

How did the nation's premier investigative mechanism miss what is

sitting in plain sight on official paper trails?

Phase One Was Built to Protect Bureaucrats: Established under the

Labour Government, the original terms of reference explicitly barred

commissioners from assigning individual blame or finding fault. It

operated behind closed doors without public cross-examination,

treating self-reported ministry updates as scripture.

Phase Two’s Structural Blindspots: Even when the Coalition expanded

the inquiry into Phase Two to examine vaccine safety and mandates, the

terms of reference specifically excluded examining "particular

clinical decisions made by public health authorities." By treating the

decision to conceal risk data as a clinical judgment rather than an

administrative failure, the inquiry allowed bureaucrats to hide behind

institutional immunity.

What Else Was Missed?

When an inquiry is engineered to protect institutional authority

rather than serve the public, the list of unanswered questions grows

exponentially:

The Youth Mandate Cost-Benefit Analysis: Why healthy 12–17-year-olds

were forced through two-dose mandates to access education, sports, and

social lives, long after global data proved the vaccine did not halt

transmission.

The Suppression of Early Treatment: How Medsafe and the Ministry of

Health restricted off-label prescribing by general practitioners,

penalising doctors who attempted to exercise independent clinical

judgment or report adverse events.

Proportionate Exemptions: The systemic refusal to grant medical

exemptions to individuals who suffered severe adverse reactions after

dose one, forcing many into a dangerous second jab under threat of

losing their livelihoods.

Media Subsidies and Narrative Control: The role of state funding

mechanisms like the Public Interest Journalism Fund (PIJF) in

discouraging mainstream investigative journalists from challenging

official health guidance or reporting on adverse event trends.

The Demands for Real Accountability

In medicine, informed consent is not optional. It is the foundational

pillar of medical ethics. To withhold or obscure known risks violates

the fundamental right of every patient and parent to make a fully

informed choice.

When health officials hide known risks from the public to enforce

compliance, they destroy the very trust required to govern. The truth

about what happened to New Zealand’s youth is finally coming to

light—and the public deserves complete, unredacted answers.
