NICK MOWBRAY: Split your vote

The followed post was sourced from Nick Mowbray's X account

I am National’s largest donor. But that doesn’t mean I agree with them on everything including how you should vote.

National will tell you not to vote strategically. Like every party they have their own interests. My priority is a centre-right government.

If that’s your priority too my advice is clear: split your vote.

Electorate vote: National.

Party vote: NZ First or ACT.

I want National’s list MPs in Parliament too. But we have to confront the electoral maths and be thoughtful about what it means for how we vote. We also have to acknowledge that the left undertook this strategy first and it’s a tight election.

As I’ve said before ZURU earns less than 1% of its revenue in New Zealand. My interest is in a prosperous responsible country where I want to raise my kids. A country of makers not takers.

Be thoughtful about how you vote. Focus on the government you want to see.

Nick Mowbray is a New Zealand entrepreneur and businessman. He is the co-founder of toy and consumer products manufacturer Zuru.

Split the vote as Nick says, and hope for David Seymour as Minister of Finance.

It beggars belief that National is saying two ticks for National!

Either they are incredibly stupid or they are arrogant or they don’t really care about the future of our country. Probably a mix of the last two.

It’s a no brainer to vote as Nick is suggesting. It is infortunste that the decision made by the National strategists leading up to this Election did not have both Bishop and Willis placed in rock solid “Blue Seats” where winning the Electorate vote was gauranteed. Polls have indicated for over 6 months that this was going to be a tight Election with no Party dominating

and if that was thought through properly by National they would have realised to survive they needed to have ACT and NZ First winning Seats by the Party vote. Did John Key not understand how MMP works?

John Key seems to have "not understood" a lot of things, including the need to get the RMA out of the way, restore the housing fair go for the young; end the Treaty Iwi racket, restart regional economies like the West Coast by reversing Helen's bans on vital economic activity, repeal Communism By Stealth; etc etc

Even Lange era lesser cabinet ministers like Terris and Bassett criticized Key for giving NZ "Helen Clark's 4th, 5th and 6th terms". i cannot get my head around whatever Key's inner motives were, to redefine National as a capitulating, focus-group-driven, "election winning" Stuffed Shirt Club. Not fighting an actual political war with truth and good arguments and only winning elections by capitulating and me-tooing…
